As you well know, financing your education requires careful planning, diligence and most importantly...faith. Though maintaining an education remains the responsibility of the student, we at Faith Christian University and Schools believe that God provides for those who are diligent in obeying His call. Students seeking financial aid should review resources below. There are various scholarships, grants and loans that can make your college education more affordable than you ever thought possible. Need-based financial aid is offerred as well through a variety of sources that we encourage you to apply. Various Financial Aid Options

Scholarships- There are vairous scholarships that are offerred by Individual Churches, Church Denominations Scholarships, Academic Scholarships by State Educational Dept/Commissions and etc. For Religious Scholarships, you can visit websites such as Next Student.com by clicking on the link http://www.nextstudent.com go to their search engine and put in religious scholarships

Federal Grants and Loans- Federal financial aid is available for those who qualify. Federal grants do not have to be repaid and Federal loans are available that offer funds at a reduced interest rate or with deferred payment. Pell Grants have assisted many in achieving their educational goals; and; loans such as the Perkins and Stafford have beed widely used. Those who use the Perkins or Stafford loan can take an advantage of a benefit that comes with it. Anyone who takes out a Perkins or Stafford Loan can get a portion of it canceled if they become employed as a teacher in a special needs area. http://www.ed.gov/

Private Loans. Low cost, private loans are available to undergraduate and graduate students. These loans can also fill the financial gap not covered by federal student aid programs.  These can be taken out at a local bank or large institution such as SallieMae

Employer Tuition Assistance. Many companies provide tuition benefits to their employees in the form of either direct payment to the school or reimbursing tuition expenses directly to the employee/student. Please check with your company’s Human Resources or Training and Education department for more information about the education benefits available to you.

Maryland Residents Only: For those who reside in Maryland, you can receive aid through the Maryland Higher Education Commission along with Federal Aid as well. You can receive a Need Based Scholarship(such as a grant), Legislative Scholarship(such as a Delegate and Senatorial Scholarship), Merit-Based Scholarship(such as academic), Career Based Scholarship(such as a teacher, Nurse and etc), and Unique Population Scholarship( such as veterans, foster children, and etc). You may visit the MHEC at http://www.mhec.state.md.us and click on Financial Aid Applications under the Students, Parents, and Counselors domain with the red banner to your left.

To qualify for financial aid, you must:

  • 1st- Fill out the FAFSA Form. Complete all the information and Identify the types of Federal grants and aid you would like to be considered for
  • 2nd- enrolled in an eligible and specific program of study
  • 3rd-Personally contact the various sources that are offerring the specific aid you need and fill out an application
  • 4rth-Maintain a high level of academic standard
  • 5th- Always check application deadlines

Remember, State and federally funded aid programs require:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Permanent residency or refugee status
  • State Residency(depends on where you live)
